Ingredients Needed in our Keto Fried Pickles

Eggs or Egg Whites.

Tips on buying eggs.

When buying eggs, be sure to open the container to make sure all the eggs are intact. Check the date on the label to make sure the eggs are not expired.

Storage.

Eggs should always be stored in the refrigerator.

How long will eggs last?

As long as eggs are refrigerated, they will last four to five weeks beyond the packed date.

Pickles.

Make sure to select dill or sour pickles. Do NOT pick bread and butter pickles since the carb count will be higher than that of sour pickles.

Almond Flour.

Storage.

Store almond flour in a tightly sealed container. Almond flour should be stored in the refrigerator or freezer.

How long will almond flour last?

One year.

Grated Parmesan Cheese.

Salt (or seasoning of choice).

I love to use Redmond Real Salt, but I invite you to use your favorite seasoning in this recipe.

Non-Stick Cooking Spray.

Since this is an Air Fryer recipe, I highly recommend using avocado oil spray OR extra virgin olive oil.

How to Make Keto Fried Pickles in the Air Fryer

Spray Air Fryer with non-stick cooking spray.

Pour egg or egg whites in a bowl. If using egg, whisk egg.

If you have not purchased pickle chips, slice pickle spears thin.

In a separate shallow bowl, combine almond flour, Parmesan cheese, and salt (or seasoning of choice)

Dip sliced pickles in egg mixture, then almond flour mixture, and line coated pickles in the Air Fryer.

Repeat until the Air Fryer basket is filled.

Spray pickles with non-stick cooking spray.

Air fry at 360 degrees for 5 minutes.

Open basket. Using tongs, flip pickles. Air Fry for an additional 5-7 minutes.

What Air Fryer Can You Use in the Recipe?

I have two Air Fryers, a Phillips and a Ninja Foodi. Any brand of Air Fryer will work in this recipe!

How to Store Leftovers?

I promise you will not have any leftovers! I have never had any leftovers from this dish! If you are to have any leftovers, I would encourage you to store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.

Can you Freeze Keto Fried Pickles?

I have never tried to freeze keto fried pickles. Why? Because I want to eat them – LOL! If you were to freeze keto fried pickles, line on parchment paper and store in an air-tight container.

How Long Does it Take to Reheat Fried Pickles?

Air fry at 360 degrees for 3-5 minutes.

FAQ.

Are Pickles a Vegetable?

Folks argue about this all the time. Pickles are made from cucumbers making them a vegetable BUT pickles are made from the fruit of the cucumber plant. My thoughts? I classify pickles as a vegetable.

Can Pickles Go Bad?

Pickles have an impressive lifespan. Pickles can last for 2 years UNOPENED if stored in the refrigerator or pantry. Once the pickle jar is open, store in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed container. The main reason pickles go bad is because we reach for a pickle with our icky fingers. Go and grab a fork or tongs and get pickles out that jar correctly!

What are the Carbs in Pickles?

Dill and sour pickles are very low carb. 1 medium pickle (3 inches long) is 1.5 grams of carbs.

Are Pickles Keto Friendly?

With the confusion of ‘are pickles a vegetable,’ I can understand while we wonder are pickles keto friendly. But YES, at 1.5 grams of carbs, pickles can EASILY fit into a keto and low carb diet.

Are Pickles Gluten Free?

Yes. Pickles are made with cucumbers and vinegar. HOWEVER, it is important to review the ingredient label on your pickles to make sure they are gluten free.

Are Fried Pickles High in Carbs?

Carbs in a serving of traditional fried pickles can equal over 80 grams of carbs. In my keto fried pickles recipe, we cut the carbs down to 5 grams.

I am allergic to almond flour, can I use pork rinds or coconut flour?

Sure!

Can I make Keto Fried Pickles in the Ninja Foodi?

Yes!
