    Frozen Turkey Burgers

Frozen turkey burgers can be found in the freezer section of your supermarket. In this recipe, I used Jenny-O turkey burgers. No matter what brand you purchase, double check the label to make sure the carbs are under 5 grams per burger patty.

    Extra Light Olive Oil

I typically buy my olive oil at the grocery store, but you can use olive oils found at speciality stores.

    Low Carb Burger Buns

I used Sola Buns which are available at Wal-Mart, Kroger, Drug Emporium, and Rouses.

    Low Carb Condiments

    Mustard, mayo, etc.

    FAQ.

    Are turkey burgers gluten free?

I wish I could say 100% yes, but the honest answer is to view the ingredients on the label.

Are there carbs in turkey burgers?

Well, to be honest, yes and no. Plain turkey burgers (which I always recommend purchasing) virtually has zero carbs, however, food companies are slick and will add in sugar and various ingredients to up the carb count. Please make sure to read the label on the turkey burgers you purchase.

How do I make low carb turkey burgers?

The quick answer to this question would be to serve bunless. I will admit, bunless burgers can be super boring. Check out low carb wraps and buns. My favorite is the Mission Carb Balance Wraps, Sola buns, and Smart Buns.

Can I use frozen turkey burgers in the air fryer?

Yes! The air fryer is made for frozen items!

    Are turkey burgers healthy?

You know me by now. The answer - read the label. If the turkey burger is plain, it is a wonderful source of protein in the diet without any added sugar. Protein is important in any weight loss plan since it is found to have you eating LESS!  In a study published in Nutrition Metabolism, those who increased their protein intake to 30 percent of their diet ate 450 fewer calories a day and lost about 11 pounds over the 12-week study without doing anything else!

Do You Put Oil in An Air Fryer?

Oil in the air fryer is an interesting discussion. You can USE oil in air fryer recipes, but DO NOT pour oil in an air fryer basket. Look for high smoke point oil sprays for the air fryer. The best oil spray for air fryer is avocado oil since its smoke point is high and can handle the high temperature of the air fryer. You can use olive oil (I often use olive oil in the air fryer) if cooking at a slightly lower temperature 360 or less.

I used olive oil in this recipe and poured on top the frozen turkey burger patties.
